Ace of Spades Armand de Brignace
Ace of Spades, whose full name is Armand de Brignac, has become one of the most popular Champagne brands on the market in recent years. Ace of Spades has been a mainstay at clubs, pubs, and restaurants around the country since Jay Z purchased the brand in 2014.
Prestige is not inexpensive. You should surely know what you’re receiving out of your opaque, gilded bottle at roughly $300 a pop (and that’s just at retail).
The Brut Gold, Champagne Armand de Brignac’s inaugural release, is still the most iconic cuvée in the collection. It’s a trio of vintages from some of the region’s most celebrated terroirs, resulting in a cuvée with vivid and fresh fruit flavor and a gentle texture, rich in the old-world tradition of champagne blending.
Many critics have praised Armand de Brignac, including Jancis Robinson and José Penin, who ranked it first out of 1,000 Champagne bottlings in 2009. Various publications, including Decanter and Wine Spectator, consistently gave the wine 90+ points.
